Driven by an insatiable curiosity and love of science she has mentored generations of academics and business leaders, creating international contacts and supports structures for the future generations of Irish scientists mean and women. She was awarded the Royal Irish academy's hides honour, the Cunningham Medal, in recognition for her outstanding contribution to scholarship, the first woman to receive this award. Ground Breaker Dervilla Donnelly is Emeritus Professor of Organic Chemistry at University College Dublin, founder member of WITS (Women in Technology and Science), and was the first female president of the Royal Dublin Society.
